hi again, i have a GAF ST/105 camera from god knows when. i bought it for ten bucks at a goodwill and it worked good...like i actually got the light meters to work and shoot film. but as soon as i got everything in its right place...the damn thing puttered out of juice. so, i looked around for a 2.7v merc. battery to replace the one in the camera...aand all signs point to the feeling that this is going to be hard to find. i bought a replacement (A14PX) batt. for (PX14) and it turns out it doesn't work...so, im distraught and saddened by my all too short career in filmmaking. if anybody out there knows where to get a PX14 or a 2.7v batt. please throw some hope this way. thank you much, cyross

people still make all kinds of obscure camera batteries. I'm sure there's someone out there.

When you say it stopped working, do you mean the light meter stopped working or the camera stopped running? If the camera stopped running, I'd say that finding a mercury battery won't do you any good, as it has nothing to do with the motor running. Can you clarify what it is NOT doing?

well, lets see, there has been some development in the saga as of late. first off, when i was changing a film cartridge in darkness, i noticed the motor started running--mind that this is with the replacement 3v battery--but it was real languid. but after five mins of coaxing ole bessy...the damn thing started working just fine, slow-mo and all. lets clear up that the light meter, the auto matic meter, never worked in the first place, so i just did it manually. now, the camera has stopped working again, all together...by this i mean that it won't turn at all...its all very confusing and i dont kknow whats up. i already bought a new camera because ive missed good filming opps. with the old one. but if anyone does have a hint on how to fix the old one, it would be fantastic to hear it. thanks again...cyross

Why are you changing the film cartridge in the dark?

...the reason the Super-8 film is in a cartridge is so you can put the film cartridge in and out of the camera in daylight....you only lose about 6 frames of film, the equivalent to either 1/4 of a second or 1/3 of a second depending on whether you shoot at 24 frames or 18 frames per second.
